Jiangsu Chamber of Commerce Visits Peijia Medical as SEPPES Doors' Yang Yuanjia Discusses Industrial Breakthroughs with Technology Innovation Leaders

Time : 2026-06-24

On the afternoon of June 9, the 2026 Jiangsu Chamber of Commerce Listed Company Benchmark Visit, organized by the Jiangsu Jiangsu Chamber of Commerce Development Promotion Association, visited Peijia Medical, a Hong Kong-listed leader in the medical device industry. More than 40 entrepreneurs from Suzhou gathered in Suzhou Industrial Park to visit this benchmark company specializing in high-end interventional medical device innovation.

During the visit, they listened to Dr. Zhang Yi, Chairman of Peijia Medical, share his two decades of dedication and entrepreneurial journey in the industry, and exchanged views on innovation, globalization, and long-term business development for Suzhou enterprises. Yang Yuanjia, council member of the association and Chairman of SEPPES Doors, participated in the full exchange, while Executive Vice President Yu Wenqin delivered the closing remarks.

At the start of the event, participating entrepreneurs toured Peijia Medical's showroom. The building is designed in the shape of a heart, echoing the company's focus on structural heart disease and neurovascular intervention. The showroom presented its full range of innovative devices, global R&D layout, and clinical achievements. Founded in Suzhou in 2012 and listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2020 under ticker 9996.HK, Peijia Medical follows the principle of utmost care and reverence for life and the strategy of innovation-led development with integrated heart and brain treatment. It focuses on R&D and manufacturing of high-end devices for structural heart disease and neurointervention, with complete valve pipelines for the aortic, mitral, and tricuspid valves, as well as neurointerventional products for hemorrhage, ischemia, and access. Seven products have been included in China's special review program for innovative medical devices. The company has overseas R&D centers in the United States, France, and Canada, and its Suzhou base includes standardized GMP clean production workshops. Its products cover thousands of hospitals nationwide. In 2025, it achieved RMB 713 million in revenue, up 15.8% year on year, with multiple valve and neurointerventional products ranking among domestic segment leaders.

During the sharing session, Dr. Zhang Yi, Chairman, CEO, and CTO of Peijia Medical, reviewed more than 20 years of industry experience. Earlier in his career, while working at Guidant, a major overseas medical device company, foreign firms believed China's cardiovascular market was too limited to prioritize. With mature overseas R&D experience, Zhang chose to return to China and start a business. In 2002, he came back alone and took over MicroPort Medical when it was in severe difficulty. Starting from a broken funding chain and a scattered team, he led the company in three years to raise the market share of domestic drug-eluting stents from 1% to 70%, breaking foreign dominance. He later led Otsuka China to profitability within two years. In 2012, he began a second venture by founding Peijia Medical and integrating it with Achieva Medical, a neurointervention company founded by his wife Ye Ping. Focusing on the interventional valve field before it became widely popular, the team spent eight years refining the TaurusOne transcatheter aortic valve system, benchmarking international leaders in detail and collecting front-line feedback from clinical procedures to build high-end domestic devices with a long-term mindset.

Today, Peijia Medical has more than 1,000 employees and a complete organization covering R&D, production, clinical work, and global commercialization. It has also built a platform to incubate local medical device startups, creating an industrial innovation space station. How a research-focused scientist builds a thousand-person organization and implements corporate culture became a key topic for the entrepreneurs present. Yang Yuanjia, council member of the association and Chairman of SEPPES Doors, asked questions on behalf of the participating Suzhou entrepreneurs. SEPPES Doors Industry (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. is a local Suzhou high-tech Specialized, Refined, Distinctive, and Innovative enterprise. It has spent more than a decade in intelligent industrial doors, owns more than 50 technical patents, offers nearly 70 products across seven industrial door series, holds international certifications including EU CE and SGS, serves more than 6,600 companies worldwide and over 80 Fortune Global 500 companies, and exports to more than 90 countries. Like Peijia, it follows a path of independent innovation, domestic substitution, and global expansion. Drawing on his own experience in industry, Yang asked Zhang two core questions: how to build a mature thousand-person organization step by step from a garage startup, and how a technology founder can lead and implement corporate culture.

Dr. Zhang answered in detail. He said organizational development depends on layered talent cultivation and the accumulation of an industrial ecosystem. After returning to China, he continued training local engineers, whose movement and entrepreneurship in turn helped expand the entire vascular intervention industry. Capital market support, global talent introduction, and clear business track division all supported the company's scaled growth. Corporate culture, he emphasized, is not a slogan on paper but a behavioral standard running through R&D, production, and clinical practice. In R&D, the company insists on quality first and invests the time needed to refine product details. Within the team, it breaks down hierarchy, maintains a scientific spirit of truth-seeking, and keeps reverence for life at the center. In global expansion, it integrates diverse cultures around the shared principle of putting patients first.

Yu Wenqin, Executive Vice President of the Jiangsu Jiangsu Chamber of Commerce Development Promotion Association, delivering closing remarks

At the end of the exchange, Executive Vice President Yu Wenqin summarized four core paths for companies seeking breakthroughs today: branding, globalization, AI adoption, and self-renewal. He noted that local Suzhou companies represented by Peijia Medical and SEPPES Doors have achieved domestic breakthroughs in high-end medical equipment and intelligent industrial equipment respectively, making them typical examples of companies that persist in technological innovation and global market development. He encouraged Suzhou entrepreneurs to learn from benchmark companies, stay committed to their core businesses, keep innovating, seize opportunities in globalization and digitalization, improve internal governance, broaden external growth boundaries, and build Chinese brands with global competitiveness.

This benchmark visit created a platform for deep exchange among Suzhou entrepreneurs from different fields. By connecting technology-driven medical innovation with high-end manufacturing, the event enabled entrepreneurs to learn from one another's management experience. The stories and development paths of leading companies also offered practical references for the high-quality and global growth of Jiangsu's real-economy enterprises.
